3. The user will be able to discuss the inherent risks of ambulatory surgery.

Making the Business Case for Infection Prevention

Session Purpose: The user will be able to explain the process and key components of making a business case for infection prevention to hospital administration that will benefit the user’s infection control program, policies and procedures.

Session Objectives:
1. The user will be able to define what it means to make a business case for infection prevention.
2. The user will be able to calculate attributable costs of hospital-acquired infections (HAIs) from either organizational data or data from the medical literature.
3. The user will be able to use economic data to help demonstrate the case for improved infection prevention and control program budgets and resources.

3. The user will be able to evaluate opportunities and strategies for collaboration between the SPD and infection prevention.

2. The user will be able to explain how microorganisms can persist in the hospital environment.
3. The user will be able to describe factors related to environmental cleaning.
