ICT Conference Biggest Success to Date
Industry Experts, Exhibitors, Speakers and Attendees Gathered to Network, Learn and Have Fun Online
Phoenix, Ariz. – The ICT Conference on Professional Development, produced by Virgo Publishing and Infection Control Today magazine, is the first 100 percent virtual and online gathering for infection prevention professionals and members of industry who serve them. Thanks to an advanced technology platform, more than 2,000 professionals participated from their office or home computers for this unique, ground-breaking event.
Held Feb. 10-11, the conference featured eight presentations from leading infection preventionists as well as a virtual exhibit floor hosted by 17 exhibitors. Attendees interacted with representatives from companies such as STERIS Corporation, 3M, BD, and others, as well as networked with colleagues across the country and from 66 countries around the world.
ICT Conference exhibitors found the show to be more economical than traditional tradeshows and discovered that the quality and quantity of leads generated was first-rate.

ICT Conference attendees were able to explore the tradeshow floor, view first-run presentations, win prizes, network, chat with their peers and exchange vCards free of charge during the event.
"The ICT Conference on Professional Development did a super job of reaching many infection preventionists (IPs) in tough economic times through their trial use of online videoconferencing,” says Libby Chinnes, RN, BSN, CIC, independent infection control consultant, IC Solutions, LLC. “The conference was live with the ability to archive at later times. The topics were of interest to all IPs with many suggestions shared for practical assistance on infection prevention and control issues. Also included was a unique mixture of vendors in the exhibit hall, chat rooms, and a prize center unlike standard webinars. This was a huge success which I hope will be repeated!"

This year’s conference was the third annual event. “We launched this conference for infection preventionists as an in-person event in 2007 and held traditional shows in Las Vegas and San Diego,” says Kelly Pyrek, editor of ICT and creator of the event’s education program. “But we also realized that many infection preventionists are on tight budgets and cannot travel. So we decided to bring the education and the trade show to them, and this year created an industry-first event with a virtual concept that was embraced enthusiastically by attendees and exhibitors alike. In this economic climate, everyone appreciated the opportunity to participate in a quality event without the additional expenses associated with leaving their office.”
The ICT Conference on Professional Development provided attendees with eight complimentary contact hours of continuing education that addressed infection prevention imperatives such as fighting multidrug-resistant organisms, meeting new CMS regulations, mandatory reporting requirements and making the business case for infection prevention to institutional leaders. STERIS Corporation was the conference’s educational partner.
Individuals wishing to see these presentations on-demand 24/7 may still do so by registering and attending the Archived Event.
